My name is Cassie Smith and I am the founder of Love to Finance.
Like so many people, I had a rocky start when it came to personal finances. Throughout college and my early 20s, I lived paycheck-to-paycheck, racked up credit card debt, and had no clue how to budget or save money effectively.
It wasn’t until my mid-20s that I finally had a wake-up call. After missing yet another loan payment due to mismanaging my finances, I felt a wave of shame and determination to turn things around. That’s when I immersed myself in learning everything I could about personal finance.
I read every money book, blog, and tutorial out there. I took community college courses on budgeting and investing fundamentals. And then I put that knowledge into practice with real strategies like:
- Creating a zero-based budget and slashing expenses
- Taking on side hustles to increase my income
- Implementing the debt snowball to rid myself of $25,000 in balances
- Starting investment accounts for long-term goals
It took years of discipline, but slowly those habits paid off. By age 30, I had climbed out of debt, built a healthy emergency fund, and started seriously saving for retirement and future goals like buying a home.
For the first time in my adult life, I finally felt financially secure and in control of my money. What an empowering transformation!
Why I Started Love to Finance
That entire personal finance journey is what inspired me to start Love to Finance in 2023. As I educated myself and implemented new money practices, I developed a deep passion for all aspects of managing finances wisely.
I realized the lessons I was learning could help countless other people who may be struggling with money like I once did. So, I launched this blog to share practical advice for mastering personal finances – in simple, easy-to-understand terms.
My goal is to make money management approachable, relatable, and far less intimidating than it’s often made out to be. I cover the fundamentals like:
- Creating budgets that work for your lifestyle
- Money-saving tactics and side hustles
- Paying down debt efficiently
- Investing and building wealth responsibly
You’ll find a refreshing lack of confusing financial jargon here. Instead, I specialize in breaking down money concepts and strategies using a friendly, judgement-free tone with real-life examples.
Whether you’re struggling with debt, want to buy a home, or are new to saving and investing for the future, I’m here as a supportive guide to help you build real financial confidence.
